Ancient Drill Armed

Racial Feat

Prerequisites: Utility Frame Gearborn

This feat prevents you from taking the other options presented under the "Crane Arm" Feature of the Utility Frame (ex- Arc Welder, Flamethrower, etc). You still gain the other benefits of the crane arm as described there.

Features

Your crane arm ends in an Ancient Drill Bit. Made of a metal no smith has been able to identify or replicate, you have spent your days maintaining it to the best of your knowledge. You gain the following:

  • Your crane arm ends in a Drill, and as such you gain usage of the "Mold Earth" cantrip. It takes 1 minute to use instead of instantly when using your drill to use the cantrip, but the effect is permanent.
  • Starting at level 10, you gain the ability to cast Move Earth, at will, without expending a spell slot. It takes 1 hour to cast when used in this way. At levels 15 and 20, this time to cast is reduced by half.
  • You cannot swap the drill to use other weapons, however, you have learned to adapt by scavenging off other metal contraptions you find to upgrade and maintain it. At levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20, and at times your DM deems appropriate, you can add one of the upgrades below to your drill.

Upgrades

Magically Reinforced

  • Your drill is considered magical in terms of overcoming resistance
  • You increase your weapon's + by 1, to a maximum of 3

Balance Improvements

  • You may reroll 1s on the main Damage Dice
  • You may take this upgrade extra times to increase the range of re-rolled values

Silver Lined

  • You drill counts as silvered for the purpose of overcoming resistances

Articulated Control

  • Your drill now has the Parrying Immunity trait
    "Weapons with this property ignore the Parry Property of other items and the AC bonus from Shields"
  • Your drill now has the Trip trait.
    "When used to try and knock a creature prone, the creature has disadvantage against you."

Fortified Mounting Structure

  • Increase your AC by 1
  • You may only take this upgrade three times

Sharpened Drill

  • Your Drill's Crit Range is increased by 1
  • You can take this upgrade multiple times to expand your crit range.
  • Your crit range, from this feature and from others, can not exceed 17-20

Spiked Drill Bit

  • Your Drill now deals an additional 1d4 damage
  • Creatures grappling you take 1d4 damage on each of their turns they grapple you

Elementally Infused Bit

  • Your Drill now has the "Elementally Infused" Property
    "This item is infused with magic of a particular elemental affinity, and deals an extra 1d8 of that specified damage type."
  • You must choose from: Fire, Cold, Lightning, or Acid
