Aether

The Aether is a vast abyss that extends infinitely in all directions. It is split in two by the Arcanic Shield and the Aethermaris, and is peppered with several pocket dimensions commonly referred to as Memorant Shards. Below the Arcanic Shield rests the remnants of alternate universes, drained of all of their entropy. Far above the Shield, sits the Universal Stellar Engraving, representing the relative location of all universes with entropy that remain within the Multiverse. The abyss continues beyond this sheet, but nothing exists in this space as it represents space beyond the extent of the multiverse.

The Aether has a physical embodiment, known to many as the Nellayotlni. The Nellayotlni collects and catalogues experiences from across the multiverse and helps direct the multiverse in the creation of more numerous and more stable universes. The Aether is ruled by a universal program known as the Constance. The Constance works to maintain balance within the Aether, and was created by a universe that passed through the Shield long ago to imprison the Forebearer within it. The Constance can create entities and warp the Aether to maintain this balance, but has not done so since the creation of the Prime Duality.
