The Beastheart are one of the first successful large scale genetic modification projects of the Humans using 5th Sun Technology. Born toward the end of the Age of the Fifth Sun, the first of them were created to act as pets for some of the wealthiest members of society despite a rather vocal opposition to the practice. Later variations were created to fill specific niches for the rapidly expanding reach of the Humans. Few were able to depart Desolation during the transition from the Fifth and Sixth Sun, but those that did were put to work with other survivors and integrated themselves as equals. Arrival to Creation's Rest with the Hymic Incursion allowed them to break away and become their own groups, mostly identifying within groups defined by their more animalistic traits.


Of the various types of Beastheart, the first created were the Feline. Then came the Canine and Equine, placed in roles as guards and hunters or in sports respectively. Following these were the rest of the Beast Heart and later more encompassing genetic modifications.

Modern Beast Heart live all across Creation's Rest integrated wth communities of other Tonallitecameh. Few remain across Desolation with the rare groups of Hym or in the Aether stranded within Ark Vessels, but these are a minority by far.

While descendant from Humans, the Beast Heart are closer in relation to the Shifters due to being the basis of the genome edited to create them. They did evolve with the Hym and Shifters to be able to use Arcanum, and some were even integral in the creation of the first Gearborn

Beast Heart look incredibly similar to Hym and while they typically have more hair on their bodies or even fur, they remain fairly similar in muscular structure—some do have more muscle density within specific areas to support whatever niche they were modified to fill though. Their eyes are nearly always changed to match that of the animal they were based on

Feline Beast Heart have few modifications from Humans of old—a majority of the changes give them fur and pointed ears atop their head, as well as a tail and small pads on their feet. Their skin also has patches similar to how cat fur would be patterned, being black, white, grey, or orange, or mixes of them. Additionally, their fingers end in small claws and their teeth are slightly sharper. The muscles in their legs also are denser, allowing for them to achieve sudden bursts of speed or jump very high in a pinch.

The Canine Beast Heart have a few more genetic changes compared to the Feline Beast Heart. Their muscles are built more around ensuring speed and preventing them from tiring quickly. Their ears are pulled to the top of their head similar to canines and the Feline Beast Heart, and their senses of smell and hearing are greatly increased. Their jaw muscles are also a lot stronger, as well having sharper teeth. Mentally, Canine Beast Heart are fiercely loyal to others and tend to try to remain in groups when possible.

As they were originally created to fill roles in sport that animals traditionally filled, the Equine Beast Heart are masters of speed and precision. Their legs look similar to that of the Humans they were born from and their modern Hym descendants, however their bone structure within them is completely different and as a result their feet tend to be much smaller. While their ears are atop of their head, unlike most other Beast Heart who have their ears located there, they are not covered in fur and have only a small amount of thin hair the same color as the hair on their head covering them.

Avian Beast Heart are easiest to identify due to their arms being apart of expansive wings. Their arms and back muscles are highly strengthened to help allow their wings to support them in flight. Their feather color typically matches their hair color.
Beyond that, their legs end in Talons allowing them to quickly pick things up while flying and they have an intuitive understanding of directions relative to them.

Perception and Sensory capabilities vary dramatically across each of the subtypes, from increased sensitivity to smell or taste, to improved hearing. Avian Beast Heart have the ability to determine directions relative to themselves, allowing them to always know where north is and making it difficult for them to get lost. They all have some basic level of Arcanopreception, only to the point of feeling uneasy within areas devoid of Arcanum.

Most Beast Heart prefer colder flatland and forested locations compared to more mountainous, hilly, warm, or humid locations due to the fur or denser muscle structure in places. Most of their abilities help them survive and give them advantages in these types of regions, while also ensuring they remain comfortable.

Like Humans and the Hym, the Beast Heart are all Omnivores. The animals that inspired the genetic changes that were accomplished via 5th Sun Technology have left a mark on preference of food, but they remain able to eat both plants and meats.

There are no languages or language groups specific to the Beast Heart, with them having spoken the Ancient Human Tongues as they became Old Hymic and the modern Hymic tongues such as Thandian.

Beast Heart have the same legend surrounding the Hymic Incursion as the other descendant races. A world covered in buildings of Steel and Glass that came alive and began to consume their civilization. They fled their world in vessels of silver that flew through the air blasting fire in their wake. Eventually arriving within The Mooring and landing upon Creation's Rest, they
left marks of their travel across the coast of Ignaldi within several Origin Stones before spreading out across the rest of the continent.
